About Larry Glick

Photography has always been a part of my life.  As a young boy, I was the family photographer documenting memories.  While a college student at Tufts University, I pursued additional course work taking photography courses at Boston University School of Journalism.  Following a stint as the photography editor for the college newspaper, I was hired by the Boston Red Sox as a sports photographer, capturing the action on the field for the Red Sox Yearbook magazine. After a hiatus of some years, when the demands of graduate school at Columbia Business School, a successful career in business, and raising a family (while taking a lifetime of their photos) took up all my attention, I found my way back behind the lens.  It has been a happy reunion inspired by the natural beauty of Martha’s Vineyard and my desire to share it with others.  To further my proficiency, I participated in Alison Shaw’s intensive and impactful workshop in 2015.

When I shoot my eye goes to elements of light, color, shape, and texture.  I enjoy the discovery of an unusual angle or perspective on the subject of my interest.  I aim to capture a very particular, yet fleeting moment in time – often drawn from the shifting images of the natural world – the sun rising or setting, reflections in the water’s current, fog setting in.

It has been my pleasure to have my work shown in publications and galleries on Martha’s Vineyard and to have received recognition in several juried photography competitions.

Publications include regular contributions to the Vineyard Gazette (2020 to present), Martha’s Vineyard Island Guide (cover photo in 2019, 2021, 2022), Cape Cod Life and Welcome to Martha’s Vineyard Guidebook.
